Its not just about reaching the destination, but reaching safely and in a good shape. With the prices of automobiles going down 2 years back before the economic crisis set in, the sales of automobiles soared high and every home has at least a bike. With that, also increased are the number of accidents. Youth trying to ignore the signals, driving without helmets and seat belts has proved fatal in many cases.
What is your role?
You may not be able to control the traffic (as it is the duty of the traffic police and not yours) but, you can act responsibly.
- Follow the signal lights no matter what time it is or how free the road way is.
- Never speed
- Never cross the railway tracks when the road is closed for approaching train.
- Plan to start an hour earlier than required to reach the destination, such that in case if there is a traffic delay, you will not be tempted to over speed to reach destination on time.
- Don't drive/ or Drive extremely slow if you are tired/frustrated/upset. Your frustration might screw up not just your life but might cost other peoples' lives too.
- Drunk driving is a crime
- Please don't feel proud of the tickets you get from the cop. Each ticket should be a lesson reminding you of your recklessness and tendency to rule-breaking.
- Refuse to get a licence by bribing.
According to WHO, atleast 13 people die ever hour due to auto accidents. 70% of victims die for want of blood though they are taken to hospitals on time. Please donate blood, save lives.
