Making of Palavalli -
👉🏻With a trip to HomeDepot, we were able to make our own palavalli.
👉🏻Get 8 sticks of 15 inches long each from HomeDepot. ( costed us $10 for a 1.5 inch thick wood sticks). Get nails too.
👉🏻We purchased burlap thread from Dollar store for a dollar.
👉🏻Hammer down the nails into sticks to form a square first. Later add the additional pieces to form as shown in figure.
👉🏻 once done, hang it to the wall using the burlap threads. You can hang fruits and flowers from the palavalli now with more burlap thread.

There are 2 main dishes of Lord Ganesha. This is a simpler yet traditional version of the dishes. The procedure is common to an extent.
Traditional procedure -
Soak Rice (2.5 cups for 7 Undrallu and 7 Kudumulu) in water for 4 hours and dry it on a towel before going to bed the previous day. The next morning powder the Rice in a mixi to a grainy state first. Remove half of it for Undrallu. Further powder the rest of the rice into a smooth flour for Kudumulu.
Quick Procedure -
Kudumulu - Get frozen or Raw grated cocunut. Grate Bellam and add 1.5 times the quantity of coconut. For make it sweeter, increase the Bellam ratio as required. For chocolate kudumulu recipe, add grated chocolate of equal ratio of coconut and just 0.5 ratio of bellam. Microwave the mixture for 1 minute as that would melt the bellam (and chocolate if its chocolate kudumulu) and it sticks to the coconut. Allow it to cool down a little and mix thoroughly with hand or spoon. The mixture is ready. make small balls of the Bellam- Coconut /Bellam-chocolate-coconut mixture. Take another bowl and put the smooth flour in it. Add a few drops or water and try to make it into dough. It must not be made to a paste but should be as a dough as that needs to be patted into round patties with hand.place the sweet balls on the patty and fold the patty around the ball. Once all the balls are ready, take an idli pan and put the kudumulu in it. Setup the idli cooker to boil with little water in the cooker for 10 minutes. Kudumulu are ready.

Purchase idli rava ( for undrallu), and rice flour ( for kudumulu) from Indian store.
Cooking Procedure -
Undrallu - First soak few Chana Dal for 10 -15 minutes while getting the process ready. Take some water in a little quantity in a bowl and heat it. Add those soaked Chana Dal,and some salt as well. Wait till it gets to boiling point. In the mean time, add oil, black mustard, asafetoida, curry leaves, grated coconut( optional), ginger pieces, and fry until the mustard seeds pop. Slowly add the Grainy rice/idli rava to this water mixture mixing the contents. Place a lid and make it boil in sim heat for 10 minutes. Cool it naturally. Before it completely cools off, add ghee to it as well as apply to your hands and make balls of it. Undrallu are ready!

👉🏻Pooja items include Haldi, Vibhuti, kumkum, akshatas ( for story at the end of vratham) and chandan.
👉🏻For the 9 patri pooja, 2 of the 9 are Tulasi, Curry leaves. Mango leaves, garika too are part of the patri pooja.

👉🏻To prepare Vinayaka prathima, have air clay/ play dough ready. Another vinayaka prathima is made out of Turmeric.
