Hydroponic garden

The hydroponic garden caused a great stir in the gardening community as well as for non-green thumbs due to various reasons. This time, for my second harvest, I brought it in to my office. My collegues did not expect it would turn into such a big plant from the size of the seeds and the initial sprouts.

Hydroponic garden is growing plants in water. Just water, no soil. No pesticides. You will add a tiny capful of vitamins every other week or as per the instructions. The model that I went with is manufactured by aerogarden.
Put the seed pods in, keep an eye on the water level daily and add as needed. It will grow on its own! I went with the company's seed pods the first time. The second time, I tried growing my own by using Dwarf Zinnia seeds of American Seed company in the recycled pod. ( I did not throw off the white plastic or the sponge once my first harvest was done. I saved it and put these zinnia seeds in there for my next garden and thus reused it).

Though I went with the 6 hole Harvest model, I would suggest that you do not plant more than 3 as It would occupy a lot of space and I like to give it as much space as possible to grow. You can keep the other holes covered with caps.

Look at my Buddha sitting peacefully under my recent garden of Thai Basil and Simpson Lettuce. I also had cilantro and another type of lettuce but that did not grow.  The best part is I contacted the Aerogarden through email with photos of the unsprouted pods and they are sending me free replacements! Yes, for every seedpod that did not grow, you can request for a free replacement as long as the seedPod is bought from them and not any grow your own type.

Save the tiny plastic baskets, the tiny domes and sponges which are totally reusable for your next garden!  Have it next to your office desk to snack on fresh and healthy.

I am not affiliated with Aerogarden. The above are all my opinions and thoughts from buying an Aerogarden and gardening from it.
