Scientific Term - As defined by Wikipedia, Hair is a filamentous biomaterial, that grows from follicles found in the dermis. The human body, apart from its glabrous skin, is covered in follicles which produce thick terminal and fine vellus hair. Most common interest in hair is focused on hair growth, hair types and hair care, but hair is also an important biomaterial primarily composed of protein, notably keratin.
You should be sporting a long hair , short or medium lengths depending on your convenience and style. You get to the parlor once in a month for a hair style, and color. Hair makes you feel confident and beautiful/Handsome. Have you ever thought of Cancer patients and people who suffer from alopecia areata ( hat causes hair loss conditions for a period of time? They still need to go around, meet their friends, and get on with their duties. How can they cope the physcial and mental agony? Yes, Hair does grow for cancer patients when the chemotheraphy is complete, but we are talking about the time when they are undergoing the treatment.
Wigs - happens to be a nice invention that can procure hair instantly on your head. With the rising costs to create a wig, it has become a costly affair for hair-loss patients to purchase one which adds up to the burden of their medical bills.
our role - It is a blessing that hair keeps growing (under normal health conditions) . Have your hair cut 2 inches shorter and it will grow again. You could be an important source for the needy ones during their hair-loss time. A little donation on your part goes a major way of boosting their confidence.
How? - You can donate your hair. Organizations require a minimum length of hair ( defined on their website) to be donated. Have your hair cut short and band it together with a hair band. You can either mail it or check with the hair cut Salon if they can send it to the organization. ( If I am not wrong, hair salons like Great clips in US send the hair directly to the organization and it provides a free hair cut in gratitude to your service). The organization gets the wigs made.
Reaching out to the people - people who suffer hair-loss due to the above mentioned medical conditions can contact the organization and fill out an application for the wig. They will be given one for free or minimal cost.
It would a little difficult on our part to grow long hair for a while (until it is 10 inches ready for the cut). It might be really difficult if you have been growing a long hair all the time and you may not feel like giving it away. Think of all the people who never get to have that chance. You can grow it back in no time.
