Electric pressure Cooker InstantPot

A few years back, I was using Secura electric pressure cooker 6 Qt. I wanted to upgrade to an 8 Qt and made use of the excellent sale they had on 8 Qt for Thanksgiving 2017 on Amazon. By the way, IF you want to buy an Instant pot, It is worth waiting until the Black friday sale on Amazon every year. They slash prices. Being quite useful and with the addition of deep discounts, The Instant Pot tops the first of most sold products on Amazon during the Holiday season undisputed.

You can buy stacking trays either from Amazon. I got the stacking trays from India when I last visited. It is great to have Dal/lentils with veggies in 1 tray, Quinoa in another and Rice in the thrid one all stacked on top of other with the Dal tray at the bottom of the stack, all cooked simultaneously in 12/15 minutes. The settings I use is High pressure with "Keep Warm"turned off and I use the Rice button option.

I use hot water from my Hot water Electric kettle that certainly speed the cooking process.  Just get the Idli trays, fill it with dough and place it with water in the bottom of the electric cooker (for steaming) and idlis are done in 10 mins. You do not have to worry about buying the whole idli cooker.

Instant Pot also called as Insta Pot by some customers has become quite famous these days. Check out the numerous face book groups just dedicated for recipes on this Instant pot.

One drawback is I upgraded to 8 Qt assuming it would be much taller and I that I might be able to stack upto 4 trays but it is wider but not much taller than the 6 Qt.

Also, don't forget to pour water in the bottom of the electric cooker vessel and have a small plate on which you will stack the trays. The bottom tray cannot touch directly the water in the utensil as then the cooker will auto stop due to too much heat and to stop the food from being burnt.
